For the last several weeks I have been busier than I have been in the last two years. After years of not working regularly due to illness, it has felt like such an honor to be able to connect again to my practices in ways that feel aligned and exciting. Whether I am hosting ritual, reading cards, or teaching, I have been anchoring deeper into my practices and wisdom and into my own power. Teaching my Christ consciousness class in particular has helped opened up a new level of self understanding and knowing as a teacher and seer. In conjunction with this class and the war on Palestinian people, the role of illusion has been heavy on my mind. Compounding the physical violence we are all bearing witness to, we are also seeing in real time the way that ignorance and disinformation is used to cause us to doubt ourselves, our knowledge, and our power. I chose the pictured excerpts from the apocryphal text the Gospel of Philip from the Nag Hammadi scriptures as a way for us to think about the invitation we all have right now to honor truth in the face of lies. What can that look like with limited personal/material resources?
One thing is for us to reconsider what it means to be resourced and what it looks like to show up in the way that this moment demands. I don’t believe it’s the responsibility of all of us to show up in the same way. We need a diversity of expressions and perspectives and toolsets and timings. And while it’s not up to us to perfectly know the how of great change, it is up to us to know how we can take our next best steps in the process.
Something that came up in our most recent Reclaiming Christ session is the question, when the conditions of our lives (inner and outer) change or become intolerable, how do we respond in the moment from self-possession, and not fear or power over/power under dynamics?
We need to be able to place our trust in something. To say that we are “anti-” anything is not enough, as we become limited by defining ourselves by what we claim to be opposed to. Then what? What will be left when the time comes that we feel that our enemy is destroyed? We end up finding new enemies formed from the dark matter of our subconscious. And then the cycle of illusion starts all over again.
Truth is not without complication in our world. We have learned that is is acceptable to bury it under many layers of partial truths and failures and judgements. Especially as we heal, we need to be able to hold contradiction with discernment. We can honor our triumphs without deifying them. We can recognize our missteps without shaming. Then we see the reality is simple: there is no winning team; we choose either truth or lies, integrity or fracturing.
When we see from this perspective, we see that there is nothing that we need to prove to ourselves because we’ll recognize that truth has always been evident and no amount of illusion can obscure it. Which allows us to free up our energy for expression and creativity and expansion on a level beyond what we thought could be possible. This is the mightiest inner resource we have, the light of our truth, struck by our courage and determination.
The way forward may seem obscured but it is up to us to light the path. May you find your way in divine timing, and strength.
All from love,
Alia
