Today is the full moon in Scorpio and above I’m sharing a brief audio incantation/meditation for the intense energies we are transmuting this year. Scorpio is a water sign, but it’s less like a quiet lakeside and more like lava, bubbling under the surface until eruption.
I still stand by what I said a few months back - the potential for growth, expansion, and creative breakthroughs are abundant this year. But it is also paired with bearing witness to the death throes of a collapsing empire. There is a sweetness that feels closer and more vivid than ever; but we must reckon with all the dysfunction we as a collective have repressed and normalized.
This is the dance of human existence - the pain we experience is so close to the growth and happiness that we seek. It all works hand in hand. There is no shadow impenetrable by light, but there is no shadow without light. Knowing this, we call on the power of rebirth of Scorpio: the magic of the exquisite alchemy we need to stand tall in our power, to honor our shadows, to feed and grow from its teachings, and be born anew, wiser, more capable, more impactful than before.
Scorpio honors devotion. Show up fully for her or don’t show up at all. Light your candles, call in your ancestors, set your spells, look your fears dead in the eye.
A few years ago, I wrote this poem for a bygone full moon in Scorpio:
I am not threatened by change because change is inevitable, fertile, and blessed
I make compost from that what has died
I choose to imagine a world that is rooted in love, respect, and autonomy for all
I make that world so.
I am not threatened by the tools of the faithless
I do not give into helplessness - helplessness is a tool of the violent, the petty, the cynical, those without sight
My peace remains even in the face of injustice. I allow myself space to mourn. grief is healing, cleansing. when injustice reins, I see my purpose: the invitation to fortify my values and bury what is dead and rotting.
I make compost from that what has died
I choose to imagine a world that is rooted in love, respect, and autonomy for all
I make that world so.
I direct my desire to my evolution
I direct my desire to the growth of my soul
I call in my highest and best
I attract all that is loving and true
I am unabashed in the way I love myself
I spare no room for self-limitation
I spare no room for doubt
I speak Love
I express Love
I am Love.
And so it is or better
